Every year Third-Grade
students at Dodge Literacy Magnet create a blast from the past with a
panorama of historical figures. The students
are part of a “living
museum,” where they teach their fellow
students about history.
Each student
is assigned to research and represent a
particular figure in history, such as
Paul Revere, Harriet Tubman, or Walter
Cronkite. Each third-grade class
represents a different era of history;
one class represents the 1700’s, one
the 1800’s, and one the 1900’s.
The students
stand motionless until someone pushs a
“button” on their hand, at which point
the student would “come to life” and
talk about the life of the historical
figure, and what that person did for
history. The living museum is the end
result of two months of research.
