Dodge Literacy Magnet Policies and Procedures ¨ Tardies: A student is considered tardy if he/she is not in the classroom by 9:30 a.m. A student who is tardy must report to the office and receive a pass. Because reading classes are held in the morning, tardy students could miss portions of reading, which is a very important part of the students day. ¨ Absences: When a student must be absent, a parent must call the office that morning. If a parent has not called by 9:30 a.m., office personnel will call to verify the absence. Students are responsible for making up class assignments when they are absent regardless of the reason for their absence. ¨ Leaving School Early: A student must be signed out by a parent at the office prior to leaving the classroom if they are to leave early due to a doctor or dentist appointment, etc. Students may not leave the building without an adult’s consent and supervision. Please do not be absent, late, or leave early on assessment days. ¨ Medications: If a student must take medication at school, there must be a completed form on file, filled out by a medical doctor, giving permission to the school to administer the medication. Office staff are not allowed to administer medication without the proper authorization. ¨ Snow Days: School closings will be reported on the radio and/or television. Please do not leave children at school without verifying that school is in session! Homework: Please communicate with your child’s teacher to learn about their homework expectations. Classroom teachers will also assign homework as needed.
