Reading

Please make sure that your student is completing the “Read and Respond” homework each night.  Your child should read for 15 minutes and be able to write a response to what he/she has read.  Practicing reading at home makes a world of difference and is a great way to spend quality time with your child.

Writing

We will continue working hard on our writing traits.  Which, for second grade are: Ideas and Content, Voice, and Conventions.  Your students are becoming great authors and will write their very own picture book as well as publish an actual book. You will have the opportunity to purchase the book they write and publish when it is complete.   

 

Math

We are under way with our Math.

We are working on fact strategies to gain accuracy so there will be no more finger counting!  Keep working at home!

 

Later in the year other math standards we will cover will include

Computation, Algebra, Elapsed Time

Probability, Computation, Review
