Greetings from the Physical Education corner of your child’s world!

My name is Kim Morrissey and I am so excited to be one of your P.E. Teachers.  I have been teaching for many years for the Wichita School District.  This is my fourth year at Dodge.  I also teach a Health and Physical Education Methods course to Education Majors at Wichita State University.

I have one daughter and two granddaughters who live with me.  My granddaughters go to school here at Dodge.  I have four dogs, Boomer, Zach, Sophi and Zues.  I also have one cat, Fozzie.  Some of the things I like to do are; sewing, walking, riding my bike, and my favorite is swimming.

I am eager to begin teaching again and have spent the summer preparing for the new school year.  This is the time in your child’s life to develop good physical habits and an interest in physical activities.  The goals for the year provide opportunities for students to learn to move and experience the joy of movement.  As a result of participating in P. E., your child will;

bullet

Respect self and others, as well as the equipment and learning environment.

bullet

Develop, demonstrate, and understand fundamental movement skills and health related fitness components.

bullet

Use a combination of cognitive and physical skills to create and problem solve.

bullet

Use and enjoy physical activity outside of the classroom.

This curriculum offers the building blocks necessary to help children develop the skills and knowledge to be physically active and lead healthy lives.

I look forward to teaching your student and continuing to be a part of the Dodge Literacy Magnet family.

P.S.  Professor BeHealthy is looking forward to working with all the students again this year.

Parents:

Please have your children wear tennis shoes on their PE days. Shoes with heels, flip flops, and slip-in shoes (shoes with no strap in the back) are dangerous to your child and others when they are active in physical education.  Your students should wear comfortable clothing as well.  Shorts under dresses and belts to hold up pants are important to our children’s well being.
