First Grade Sequence Guide For
Math These are the standards that will be emphasized in each
month, but there must be a continuous review, reinforcement and opportunity
for application in order for students to retain their new knowledge. It is
through application of skills that we truly become mathematically literate. · March: Like coin combination,
computation, Algebra · April: numbers (fractions), measurement (length, weight) Uniity I dreamed I stood in a studio And watched two sculptors there, The clay they used was a young child’s
mind And they fashioned it with care. One was a teacher; the tools she
used was books and music and art; One was a parents with a guiding hand and gentle
loving heart. And when at last their work was
done they had wrought. For the things they had worked into
the child could never be sold or bought. Each agreed she would have failed
if she had worked alone. For behind
the parent stood the school, and behind the teacher stood the home. Ray A Lingenfelter
· February: Computation, Number (2’s,5’s. 10’s), Like coins
