Student Dress Code

2007-2008

1.  Clothing must contain acceptable logos.  Acceptable logos must not promote alcohol, drugs, weapons, sex, profanity, derogatory statements, and racial or sexist slurs. 

2.  Shirts, blouses, and dresses must cover the shoulders, upper chest, and must be long enough so as not to show any skin in the waist area.  No see-through clothing will be permitted.

3.  Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be not shorter than mid-thigh.

4.  Hats, caps, stocking hats, scarves, rags, house shoes/slippers, and sunglasses are not to be worn any time in the building.

5.  Clothing promoting any type of gang affiliation will not be allowed.

6.  Pants will be worn at the waist.  Belt tails should hang not more than 6 inches below the belt line. Sagging pants will not be allowed.  

7.  Metal chains, dog collars, and Chinese stars will not be allowed.

8.  No colorful hair or extreme hairstyles will be allowed.

 9.  Drawing/writing on self and clothing will not be allowed.  All visible body piercing, excluding earrings is unacceptable.

 10. Coats will be removed upon entering the building.  Students are encouraged to layer for warmth.  (Staff may determine that coats are allowed when the temperature is uncomfortable to the learning environment.)

11. When necessary, administration will determine what constitutes inappropriate or disruptive dress.

12.  Shoes should be safe and appropriate for P.E., recess, and general activities.

Students must conform to the above statements to be allowed to

participate in the school day.  Student out of compliance will be asked to

change or will be sent home
