Title I schools receive federal funding to supplement the school’s existing programs which can be used for identifying students’ educational needs; providing extra staff, programs, materials and supplies; parent and family engagement activities, training and meetings; and professional development for staff working with students.
Parents are encouraged to actively participate in their child’s school through family engagement opportunities and have the right to partner or advocate in the decisions regarding how funds will be used for parent and family engagement activities.
Parents and families, school staff, and students share the responsibility for supporting improved student academic achievement in areas such as attendance, homework, volunteering, etc.
