Our School

While our students' mission is to follow the guidelines for success, our staff and stakeholders share a collective vision and mission as well.  Our vision statement looks forward and creates a dream of what we wish to achieve.  It is inspirational and aspirational and challenges our school community to strive for greatness.  The mission statement is the day-to-day support of that vision.  It is our purpose and our reason for showing up daily.

Our Vision

Literacy is the heart of Dodge Literacy Magnet, where our vision is for all students to be independent and empowered readers, writers, listeners and speakers who function with integrity in the world.

Our Mission

The mission of Dodge Literacy Magnet is to cultivate empowered literate children through intentional relationships and rigorous research-based instruction.

Guidelines for Success

When Dodge became a Literacy Magnet, a group of Fourth and Fifth Graders went to Friends University and spent the day talking about what was important in education and developed our mission statement. Years later, when each school was asked to develop Guidelines for Success, the Dodge MTSS Leadership Team revisited our mission and decided it still fit our needs perfectly.  Our students recite the Pledge of Allegiance and our Guidelines for Success each morning.

PAWS Award

We wanted to recognize students for going above and beyond in their behavior and so we came up with the PAWS award. PAWS stands for Positive Attitudes Will Succeed and they go hand in hand with our guidelines for success.  When students earn a PAWS award, they receive a written award to take home. Every Friday, their names are read during morning announcements.  The recognized students come to the main hallway, put their names up on our PAWS board, and share with others what they did to receive their paw.  These students are also recognized by getting a VIP bracelet which allows them to choose a friend during lunch to join them at the VIP table!
